9 Things Your Deceased Dog Would Want You To Know

The indescribable love of having a pet cannot be matched, but the pain of their departure can be devastating. Despite crossing the rainbow bridge, our pets have messages to convey to us.

We acknowledge that bidding farewell is one of life’s most difficult tasks, and we aspire to offer some solace through our words. As someone who has been fortunate enough to experience the affection and kindness of dogs and cats throughout my life, I believe that they would desire us to remember these 9 significant messages even after they have departed.

9. There’s Nothing That Could Have Been Done Differently

Before being born on Earth, a soul’s journey is predetermined, and all possible exits from this world are included in the plan. Therefore, when a soul departs this world, it is part of their intended path and a deliberate decision made by the soul.

The timing of your pet’s departure from this world is not the result of any particular action or person. Nobody could have done anything differently to save them. When a soul’s time to leave their physical form arrives, all necessary actions have already been taken, and everything that needed to occur has taken place. Your pet wants you to understand that you did everything perfectly, and there was nothing more you could have done.

8. They Chose You As Their Parents

In the same way that a soul plans their life and chooses their path of departure, your pet also selects you as their caregiver. Whether it’s a dog, a cat, or a bird, they pick you to be the one who will provide them with the most love and happiness during their time here, and you have done just that.

Your pet wishes for you to realize that you were and continue to be the ideal parent, fulfilling their desire for comfort and joy.

7. They Understand Your Sadness, But Would Rather See You Happy

As a spirit now, your pet understands that sadness is an inevitable part of the grieving process, but they wish it weren’t so.

Do you recall how, when they were alive, they would snuggle up next to you, sitting by your side (or on top of you), whenever you were feeling down or upset? They wanted nothing more than to make you happy, and they still do, even in the present. They never intended for their departure to cause pain, just as no one does. However, they comprehend that this is part of the process.

Your pet desires for you to reflect on the happy, love-filled, and joyous moments you spent together and recall them with appreciation and gratitude. They believe that the time spent with you was a cherished gift and that this gift is a reason for celebration and smiling.

6. They Know You Loved Them And Hope You Know They Loved You Back

Your pet wants you to dismiss any doubts you may have had about whether or not they knew how much you loved them because they most certainly did.

It’s often stated that grief is the ultimate expression of love exchanged between two beings, and the intensity of that grief is a gauge of the strength of the love shared.

Your pet is aware of how intensely you loved them, and they want you to understand that they loved you in equal, if not greater, measure.

5. They’re Still Right By Your Side

You needn’t feel alone because your pet is not gone forever; they’re still beside you, and always will be if you allow them to be. The Spirit World coexists with our physical realm, and although your pet may no longer inhabit their physical body, they remain with you in spirit.

Additionally, please keep in mind that it was their spirit that you loved in the first place, not their physical attributes. You loved their personality, their attitude, and their mannerisms, all of which are components of their spirit. You may have adored their fur, one standing ear, or even their snaggle teeth (perhaps only a bit), but primarily, you cherished them for who they were as a spirit, and that spirit is still present beside you.

4. They Still Want To Do Things With You

Your pet is still here, but now in a spiritual state, and they still relish your company and wish to continue doing the things you both loved.

If they relished riding alongside you on car journeys, joining you on hikes, bike rides, or runs, or snuggling up on your lap while you worked late into the night, your pet wants you to be aware that they still adore participating in those activities and yearn to accompany you.

To invite them along, simply pat the spot next to you on the couch, offer them a sign to join you on a hike or take a walk with you, and give them your approval to hop out of the car and come along.

3. They Don’t Want You To Regret The Way That They Died

The passing of a pet can be a difficult and emotional experience for many pet owners. Even if the final moments were challenging, it’s important to remember that your pet chose to be with you in those moments. If you had to make the difficult decision to euthanize your pet, your pet wants you to know that they do not want you to regret this decision. They wanted to be surrounded by your love as they crossed over to the other side, and they are at peace knowing that you honored their wishes.

2. They Know You Often Loved Them More Than You Loved Yourself

Your pet is aware that sometimes you struggled to provide them with proper food and treats, but they are grateful for all the love you gave them. They recognize that you showed them more love than you showed yourself, and they appreciate it deeply.

That’s why they chose you as their perfect parent, and they want to express their gratitude for loving them even during difficult times when it may have been hard to love anything at all.

1. They Loved You More Than They Loved Themselves

Your pet was a unique individual with their own insecurities, doubts, and areas for improvement, just like all of us. However, you were always there to support, love, and care for them, even during times when you thought you weren’t doing enough. Your pet’s love for you exceeds even their love for themselves. If you’re open to it, they would like to continue to be a part of your life.
